RO/DI and a Water Softenener

I have been using an RO/DI unit for a while. Today, I put in a whole house water softener (finally I can get my wife to shut-up about it)

What effect will that have on the water coming out of the RO/DI unit?

Just a guess, but I would think having the RO unit plumbed after the softener would make the RO unit more efficient. I couldn't imagine it would have a detrimental effect...

besides being more efficient, the membrane and filters will probably last a bit longer due to the water being pre filtered.
