ro filter

I just purchased a coralife ro filter and set it up. I let it run for the 2 hours to clean it, and started to collect clean water. The output of the filter is 24 gpd. I collected 1/2 gal of clean water and have 3 gal of waste water. Is this normal to have that much waste? What can I do with the waste? I am on a well/septic system.

RO/DI units do produce a lot of wastewater. I fill up my washing machine and water my plants with it.
