Royal Gramma swimming pattern

Do they normally swim on their sides, hang upside down or stand up?...mine looks OK otherwise and has been eating, but swimming positions seem odd. It's a recent addition and took a while just to get out from the upper corner near the skimmer.

At least that is my experience. I have had my Royal Gramma in my QT tank for 3 weeks now and he is normally looking at me upside down around his little structure inside the tank.

The are really cool to watch. The don't seem to swim like normal fish in the sense of a "flowing swimming pattern". More like "stop and go" swimming.
