Salinity

My salinity has jumped to almost 1.028- what is the most I should lower salinity at a time? Ie can I add another rodi water right now to drop it into a normal level or should I do it by dropping .001 at a time???

Bring it down a point at a time. What are you testing with refractor or hydrometer? Bring it down to .26- .27 will be fine, how did it get high if your testing is correct thats what you need to figure out.

It got high because my cover broke when I was cleaning and evap increased but I still topped off the same amount. I also got a new protein skimmer which I think may be causing a bit more evap. I topped off slowly with rodi and we are close to normal levels again.

1.028 is still in the acceptable range, but if you are able to keep ontop of your top offs it will stay where you want it to be without issue.
