Hi,

My tank is two months old and i have a question about salinity.

I have CUC (Hermits/Shrimp/Slug) and one firefish at the moment with two clowns next week and soft corals later on in the year.

My salinity by Refractometer reads 1.023/30. - Is this acceptable?

Thanks (y)

That's a little low, but acceptable. Natural seawater around most coral reefs is about 1.026/35

Thanks ccCapt, is it worth adding a touch of salt mix to some RO to bring it up?

great diagram by the way!

yes but add it slowly you dont want to shock the inverts

yea teaspoon at a time,
Clowns can live in water from 1.019 to 1.026...
I know this from experience. Im slowly raising my waters sg/salinity from 1.019 its been over a week and im at 1.021 at the moment. so even when you do have the clowns in there you can continue to slowly raise the sg....
