Ive been thinking about adding sand to my tank once school is over. Could i put sand on top of my crushed coral gravel? I plan on empting the tank since there are only 2 clowns in it and some crabs and cleaning it out. I also hope to add more base rock. Is it ok to use crushed coral gravel and sand?

29 gallon under construction

You certainly can, however, the sand will just fall to the bottom and the CC will end up on top. This will not help with any of the maintanance issues associated with CC. Taking everything out and replacing with all LS may be a better option but you are likely to start another cycle.

Have a great day! Brian
