I am starting a new 100 Gallon SW tank. I am planning on corals, anenomies, snails, crabs, and clown fish. How much sand or LIVE SAND do I need in the tank? And also how many pounds of LR do I need? TIA.
Follow the calculators link at the top of this page for a sand bed depth calculator. You can do a mix of "dead" dry sand and live sand like 80/20 to keep costs down. Most people shoot for 1-2lbs of LR per gallon. The live sand and live rock will seed the dry sand and it will all become "live" eventually.
