My 10-gallon reef has a 2-inch black argonite LS bed. I've started to get a significant buildup of detrius from my fish on one side of the tank, and I'd like to get some kind of sand sifter that would help clean it up.
I used to have a sand sifting sea star, but he died. I believe that his problem may have been that the sand is fairly coarse and he wasn't able to dig down into it like he could with finer sand, so he probably ended up starving to death.
I also used to have a tiger tail sea cucumber. I never was sure what killed him, but I'm a bit suspitious of my peppermint shrimp who I caught picking at him both before and after the cucumber died.
Any ideas or suggestions?
