I'm contemplating getting one. Any comments on if its a good purchase or not. I need something to help keep my sand clean.

How big is your tank? Ive heard bad things about owning them. They can starve to death after burying themselves in the sand and will rot there.

To elaborate on what's already been said, I wouldn't recommend even one of these for any tank under 100 gallons. And that's only if you REALLY want a dead sandbed. They eat all the stuff that makes the sandbed live and useful.
And yes, they do tend to starve and die under the sand. Dont even have the common courtesy to die where we can see them! It is my personal opinion that these shouldn't even be sold. But that is just my opinion.

Awesome! Thanks guys. I have a 29 gal bio cube. From the sounds of it, seems like I'll pass on the starfish. Prob pick up a couple more nassarius snails instead.

Yeah I picked up a diamond goby instead ! Thanks for the insight everyone.
