So I originally wanted to buy a brand-new 150 gallon tank (6' long). Today I was in the LFS And the low and behold they had a 150 gallon wide For sale, that included a sump, All the plumbing, and a skimmer! What do you guys think? I paid $800 for everything!!

There's all kinda of odds & end stuff like a mag12, some heaters, and a bunch of other stuff!!

Hope to start my stand in a few weeks! Back to the drawing boards though, completely different Dimensions now!

This a great deal considering I just bought a few months back a 75 gallon overflow with the stand for 750 not including sump or plumbing or skimmer

Oh I'm glad now!! Now I have to find someone who has a precision marine bullet 2 skimmer to understand this thing lol! With no manual it's kinda hard to understand it.

It's moving day!!! This is my mom with my new tank. Going to try and get the frame of the stand done today too!

Got the wood stained today! Next weekend we will put the frame together. The pics are the back sides you won't see, the other sides look better, less knots and discoloration.

Looks great!! Nice job! And I like the rustic look, so the knots and discolorations are gorgeous to me. :)

I wanted a bit lighter but I'm quite pleased with how it came out! You never know with stain what color your'll get till its done. Can't wait to get it together! Hoping next weekend if scheduling works out.

Looks great I cant wait to see it up and running I think you got a good deal especially since you really only need to focus on livestock and LR now.

Thanks! The plan is August to get it all up and running. This is only my 2nd SW tank ever (1st build on my own) the guy I bought my first tank from made all the rocks for the tank so I've asked him if he would make me 150lb of rock and he said yes.... For $500! It would cost me about $1,800 for 150lb of real live rock so that's a great deal! Plus I like the look and they are so pourse the drip forever once taken out of the tank! He lets them sit for at least 2mo to cycle and adding bacteria so the will be "live" when I get them. The weather here hasn't been cooperating so it's taking him a while to get them started.

Thinking of going Fiji pink for sand but still unsure.

Really just need a pump for return and powerheads, to get it up and running. Then lights (taotronics I'm thinking) It came with a mag12 I'm going to see how the PM skimmer runs on that but I think I'm going to end up upgrading that.

After that I will need the "I wants" (lol as I call them)

GFO reactor (may do carbon too)
UV- maybe
Skimmer waste cup-homemade, they are expensive!
Auto top off

Any other ideas? Being my first build I'm open to suggestions on things that are a must!

You could buy your base rock for cheaper than 500 bucks for 150pounds, reefrocks.net sells baserock for 85.00 for 50 pounds and with the amount you would order shipping would be free. Just throwing it out there. Btw, awesome deal on the tank and love the shade of stain on the stand awesome work !

Thanks for the thought but I like the looks of the hand made ones. They are unique.

Got the stand frame together heading to get the wood for canopy & plywood, then we will need the finishing trim.
