I think those prefer Caulerpa if it is (Aplysia sp.) over hair algae. They also can grow to about 1 foot and need plenty of grazing room. A good chemical filtration system is needed. If they get stressed, they release a toxic dye.
I would look at reducing your hair algae by more frequent PWCs, less feeding and shorter photo periods, rather than a band aid solution.

I agree with Roka. Adding an animal that will eat the algae is just a temp solution.

Do some testing of your water and see what is amiss. Post your results here so we can help you out. I'm going to guess that you have a high NitrAte number and may or may not have phosphate readings. IF you have any phosphate readings no matter how low that could be the largest source for fuel for the hair algae.

Increased PWCs, reduced feedings and reduced photo period as Roka suggest is a great place to start.
