Seawater and skimmer question

Two questios;

(1) I live in South Florida, can I use seawater in my aquarium?

(2) Why would I need a skimmer? I only intend to keep fish.

Thanx in advance!

Yes, however it is recommended that you collect off shore.

If you do frequent regular water changes...you don't necessarily need a skimmer, however I find them very useful...especially on a fish only tank.

Thanks reefrunner;

What do you mean by "frequent ... water changes"?

I have seen recommendations of any where between 5% - 25% @ month. Which do you recommend?

I do not plan on overloading my tank and plan to keep fish only

weekly to biweekly of 10 - 20%, depending on how long you wait. 10% weekly or 20% biweekly
