Have decided the skimmer on my old tank is not going to good enough to do my new tank and I will be getting a new one. Is it possible to over skim by buying a skimmer too big? Anyone suggest any good brands to look at for skimmers?

I think the rule is to have a skimmer able to handle double your tanks water volume. I have a 54g corner reef and just picked up the eshopps psk100h and its fantastic! Removing all sorts of junk. I originally bought the system used with a junk skimmer. The old skimmer was producing very light colored skimmate and this one is a nice dark coffee colored junk. I think my coral are thanking me for it. My torch is double the size.

Good luck!
