I've got a 55gal tank with 3-4" DSB and live rock on the way. Just put in 2x225w heaters and I think i'm going to go with the Fluval 404 cannister filter. The question is will I need a skimmer? If so is this the one I should be getting? marinedepot.com have decent prices? TIA

Oh.. and I'm looking at hang-on system cause I don't have a sump etc.

You may want to remove one of the heaters. Thats ot of wattage for a 55.

AquaC Remora skimmer works great. BTW, you should remove the bio rings from the Fluval 404 canister because they will turn into a nitrate factory which you want to avoid.

Agreed. Go for the Aqua C, but with the Maxijet. It is a more reliable PH than the Rio.
