I have a young 75g reef tank that I am adding trace elements, iodine, and reef essentials too. I have been adding them to my sump which houses my air stone driven skimmer. I was just thinking "doesn't the skimmer remove all that stuff?" So should I be adding directly to the tank?

I add to the tank, but you might want to add right above the return to the tank, this will insure good mixing and leep the skimmer from immediately removing them.

I add things right to the overflow of my hang-on skimmer. That way it is well mixed as it is added to the tank. It is a venturi style and I notice that i get an instant increase in microbubbles. I am sure that the additives are being skimmed right away, but at least I know that it is working properly and keeping my water clean of excess junk.
