Reefrunner can hermit crabs be hard on aquarium Livestock? Should a person stick with snails for Alage control? What would you suggest?

Thanks in advance Duane

Hermits are "iffy" Some hermits do fine and never harm anything but algae, but IMO, most will attack and kill snails for their shells, sometimes just to try them on and then discard them cause they are not the proper fit. I have had good luck with dwarf zebra hermits (left hand hermits), I've only had to remove a couple for snail murder. Another thing to remember about any cab is they are opportunistic, if their is not enough of their preferred food in the tank...they are gonna eat.
