Snow flake eel question

I know it's 2 gallons for 1 inch of fish in a saltwater tank. But I've seen in a book, and on other websites that a snowflake eel can be put in a 30-gallon tank. But from what I've read they get almost 30 inches. Can someone please explain to me why this is possible?

They can stay in a 30G temporarily, but eventually he will need a bigger tank. Also, with a 30G, it would be easier for him to escape if it is not sealed properly. They are some of the smartest escape artists I have seen besides the octopus.
I think it is 5 Gallons for every inch of fish.

Mike

theres an calculator on this wegsite for fish capacity, i had a snowflake in a 36 he did pretty good, the common fish rules don't nessacarly apply for eels, they dont need swimming room, but they do poop so watch the nitrates and dont over feed.
