What sniper meant is why add a small filter inside a more effective filter where all you need is just to add media bags on it and filter sock. No need to add extra work to maintain another small filter.

True I was just curious if it would do any good just adding that extra mile to my sump .

Probably not. Several schools of thought. Most folks use a fine filter, (sock or floss) to remove large floaters. Then use PS and biological processes to remove the dissolved organics. I like the floaters and don't use fine filtration. My theory is there are organisms in the water column that are beneficial to filter feeders like coral.

I agree I don't use the fine filters either just because of the copapods it would catch
