So, what happens to the snail poop?

Okay, gross question, but . . . I put a couple of snails in my QT (no meds, just a QT) to help with an algae problem. It's a BB tank, so everything shows--and dang, those guys poop a lot! There was never any fish poop to take out (with two clowns) but I'm sucking out literally little piles now. It's not a problem, but I can't help wondering--what takes care of this in a reef tank? Does someone else eat the poop (yummy) or does it just break down on the surface of the sandbed?

Never thought I'd be asking questions about the bathroom habits of snails . . .

Nitrifying bacteria takes care of it.
Along with worms and pods.

I have a sand sifting cuke that works on that stuff.

I always thought fish poops,snail poops,wastes disolve in the water and remove by the skimmer.
