soft coral needs

I have a couple of frags in my 20 tank. One zoanthid and one mushroom. How important is monitoring calcium, phosphates and Alk. Do soft corals need these monitored as much as hard corals do ? Right now I only monitor ammonia, nitrites,PH, and nitrates.

I would just monitor alk, they don't use calcium to build skeletons so that won't change. I'd check phosphates if you see a bloom in algae.

i wouldn't worry about anything at all. just keep up with the water changes and you should be fine.

Agreed, regular water changes will supply more than enough for the small number of corals that are in your tank.

I do weekly water changes of about 20% so I guess I'm good to go...
