How much spacer should there be between pc and metal halide? also, 47 5/8" x 13 1/8" x 6 hood. i understand that there needs to be 10" from the bulb to the surface of the water......should there be more height if its a acylic tank?

10 inches from the acrylic is good.
Not sure I understand your question. If I think I understand you correctly....I have mine just far enough away that it does not block the light and get too hot.

I agree, I do not really understand the question. In general, there should be one MH bulb for every two square feet you wish to light. In terms of lenght, VHO, or CF lights should run the lenght of the tank.
