Sponge Crab

Today at the LFS they had several sponge crabs for sale. I have found conflicting information on them about being reef safe and if they get along with other invertebrates such as hermit, emerald and sally light foot crabs. They are very similar to the decorator crabs they had a while back but they don't have any specific information on them. The sites do agree they are nocturnal so I know they won't be out much.

My research doesn't seem to turn up much information on them and I am trying to decide if they will work with my current and future stocking plans.

Sponge crabs can grow up to 8 inches depending on the type you get. typically scavengers, they should not pose a problem to your livestock, check this page out, it may help you out. Sponge Crab, Dromia erythropus  ::  Aquarium Domain.com

I guess my friend can get one since he doesn't have a problem getting rid of fish and things he has had when they get to big. I don't have room for a big enough tank and don't have the heart to get rid of it. Thank you.
