SRO HOB & Chaeto

Hey, I have a Super Reef Octopus XP1000 HOB skimmer and was wondering if I could put chaeto in the 2 return chambers & get rid of the sponge.

It *should* get a fair amount of light from my T5 fixture as the lights overhang the chamber slightly and the HOB is clear acrylic.

Any thoughts on this?
