I bought a coral a couple weeks ago n a baby starfish must have been on it. A couple days after I bought it, the star showed up on my glass. I figured it would just die but it didn't. Got a tiny bit bigger. No bigger then a small pinky nail. Everything I read is starfish are a no no for reef tanks. So can I just put it in sump or should i just get rid of it? Also I have no lights in my sump so I'm not sure if it could survive without any lights.

It sounds like it could be an astrea starfish to me.

If so, they aren't anything to worry about 99% of the time but do multiply fast. They stay small.

If you do a quick google search you can compare pictures.

Some types of starfish are fine in reef tanks. You might google asterina starfish. That might be it. If so, they can be bad. Just depends if you want it or not.

I googled the astrea starfish n that's exactly what it looks like. Thanks
