Stinky Food

Decided to diversify the diet of my show tank so I went out and got some squid. Thawed a piece out...cut it up into manageable sizes and dropped it on in. An hour later I thought the smell was going to kill me and my family. It smelled this way for almost 24 hours...at which point I removed uneaten parts.....is this normal?

Foods should be eaten within the first 5-15 min of being placed in the tank. Any uneaten portions should be removed after about ½ hr. I would suggest next time even smaller portion sizes and a smaller amount overall. It's easier to add bit more than to take it out later.

I would also suggest you move the Koran over to the 180 gal once it's ready. The 29 is far too small for such a fish.

Cheers
Steve

Yeah the Koran is still a bit small...probably 4 inches long. The stocking in that tank is very light with just a clown, royal gramma and a goby. He is starting to pick on the others though so I am still debating when I will pull him.
