I would like to have the moon lights in my tank but my "newbie" budget won't allow it right now. I stopped by Lowes after work today and bought a 6 ft section of strip lighting for under ten bucks. It says for indoor or outdoor use. Has anyone used these for "moonlights"on ther tanks before? My tank is only 36" long and was hopeing to cut the length but it says you can't. I thought about mounting them inside my light hood.

Not worried about cheapness but color. I would go with "red" moonlights You will see more "night life" with red ones. I actually use Christmas tree lights (big Ones) for mine. Spectrum plays a big role and those lights may be the wrong spectrum and "wake" everything up. Go Red!!
