Hey guys,

just wanted to know,
i have a marineland explorer lying around, could i use this as a small QT for my 30 gallon, or is it too small

just wondering

TIA

Aren't the Explorers only 2.5 gallons? That's way too small. You want something at least five gallons. A simple five gallon glass tank, a sponge filter and a heater is all you really need...with some light and something for the fish to hide in or behind. It can double as a hospital tank when needed.

You could also use a five gallon bucket(new and only for this). A submersible heater and a drop in cheapy box filter and some kind of clip on drop light or stand light. Just the basics. nothing expensive. These things will be small and easy to store in between uses. This also assumes you will only be qt'ing new arrivals and small qty's of fish, not your entire tank for long term.
