Hey everyone, I just switched from 520W PCs (one was a CSL moon-lite hood) to 800W HQI. I just realized that I am not going to have moonlight anymore and need something for a 48" tank. Any suggestions?

Hey BriscO,
Let me send you a moonlight plan that I used to make my moonlight bar. What I did was I took a 1x4, drilled 5 holes in it , inserted the LED's and wired it. I also wrapped the 1x4 in aluminum flashing for a little bit of reflection and to blend it w/ my canopy.

Okay two things, on the coralvue lights I don't really have a reference point on how many watts my CSL's are, I want a similar effect, good shimmer and dim illumination. Trying to figure out how many of what wattage I need for a 48" tank I could easily mount them on a 1X4 and lay it across my hood. Secondly, is the difference in Moguel and HQI similar to Square vs. straight pin in PCs? Just a matter of how the bulb connects?
