Sump: Is this a good deal?

I went down to my LFS to price a sump setup. He gave me a price of $286.75 (for a good pump) & $226.75 (with a cheapie pump). He didn't mention which models of the pumps but this price for a complete set up (hang on overflow, tubing/plumbing from &return, pump, 20 gal sump & two micron filters).

As the topic question says, is this a good price?

It sounds relatively good,

Here, they are $199 for the 10 gal complete.

I would shop around online and see if you can beat the price, and then try to strike a deal with the LFS.

This is for your 40g, right?? I know prices in CA are outrageous, so maybe it is a decent price, but here in FL, I could set up a sump with overflow and pump for a 40g tank for around $125.00 - $150.00.
Overflow box....40-50
Sump (= 10 - 20gtank)....10-30
Pump (mag 7)....60
PVC (for return and drain)....10

The price on the Magdrive is iffy, I got it from a Dr Fosters & Smith catalog that was sitting on the desk, I'm sure you could get it cheaper somewhere else.

Yep Kevin, it's for the 40L that we're going to be setting up.
Thanks for the tips, especially ont he Mag pump. Right now we're pricing around & weighing cost & time of DIYing the sump versus purchasing a complete system. We'll keep you posted on what we find & what we eventually decide on.

Thanks Kevin!
