sump questions

I wanted to add a sump to my 29 saltwater tank. What equipment do i need? Would it beneficial to add more live rock to the sump? I have anywhere from 30-40 pounds of live rock in my tank.

You need a tank (10-20 gallon, or custom acryllic if you want). A return pump, and an overflow for your main tank.

Why are you thinking of adding a sump? Fuge? Equipment repository? Only extra bio filtration? The design of it depends a lot on that.

I would say you have enough LR in the main tank. I don't think it will benefit you to add LR to the sump.
