Sump Return Pump Height

Does it make sense to position your return pump as high as possible during normal operating water levels ? In case your siphon breaks or the drain gets clogged you will only pump up until the pump gets above the water level. This should stop or reduce flooding in the display tank.

I don't see this mentioned anywhere when setting up your sump. Am I missing something or is this too obvious ?
 
Better to avoid siphon break. Otherwise as water evaporates, the water level in the return section of your sump could fall below your pump's intake and potentially damage your pump. This potential increases the higher your pump is.
