Hi just looking for some advice on an appropriate cleanser for my tank and associated supplies.

My tank has been down for a while, and I’m getting ready (after moving) to start it back up. I need to clean my 20 gallon sump, and Oceanic Protein skimmer. They are both very, very cruddy. I don’t want to use anything too harsh that might leave some sort of harmful residue behind. Anyone have any recommendations as to what I should use.

I would soak it in bleach or vinegar, depending on what you want to remove. If it is an organic cruddiness, the bleach will remove it (may have to soak for a long time) if it is a limescale calcium based cruddines the vinegar will dissolve it. Both are easily rinsed from the equipment.
