Now that colder weather has come upon us, what is the best way to maintain a decent tank temperature without having to keep the home heat set high. Is it better to have a higher wattage heater or 2 lower wattage heaters? Right now our home is going down to around 60 degrees F and the tank is staying around 77.9 I'd like to see it stay in the 78-80 range...just curious.

Most people use smaller multiple heaters but it depends on what the surrounding temp is too. My sump is in an unfinished basement so I use 2 big heaters and only run the second at night ... for now. In the heart of winter I might have to run both all the time.

Redundancy is a good thing.
