I am actually very interested to see how this works. I have a 120 build coming soon and I'd like to try something different with it.

Start reading - plenty of do's and don'ts. Here's the 1300+ post thread on Reef Sanctuary

Mega-Powerful Nitrate and Phosphate Remover Replaces Skimmer, Refugium, Everything - Reef Sanctuary

...and the website maintained by the controversial and occasionally offensive "Santa Monica"

Algae Scrubbers • Index page

If I can get enough time this weekend, I'll have it up and running - but I still have to order the seed screen. There's enough natural filtration to get by for a few days with no filter sock and no active ATS...

Just a quick update, lots of info on the scrubber thread. Also have a few new acquisitions:

Lobo or Acan (got an ID thread going)

7-head Dendro

Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp

And also got a Green Goby about 1-1/2" long but I think he's gone. Can't find him anywhere. He has gone the way of the Tail Spot Blenny I fear. All that for $20 from a local guy taking his tank down, so no biggie on the Goby I guess.

I don't know if i would give up on the goby yet. If there is ever a fish that can just "go off the grid" for a couple days it is that one. They are very sneaky and quite timid.

Actually I think it's a Trumpet Coral like this one

Trumpet Coral, Caulastrea echinulata, Torch Coral Information and Coral Pictures

I'm not sure this falls into the "lobo" family or what. Terminology used for corals seems to be rather conflicting.

All the pics of lobos I've seen have been larger and 'twistier', instead of a single oval head. So I don't think this is a lobo...but what do I know.

You can chime in on this thread also if you think it's been misidentified.

Coral ID please
