My 90 gallon tank had a glass piece in the middle. Is it possible to just remove it? I bought it used and didn't realize the implications for lighting.ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1421364711.695953.jpgImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1421364723.579173.jpg

No. Looks like they are glued in place. There is a plastic piece on top of the glass, but it looks ornamental. I am concerned that tank will not hold structurally if I remove it.

I think kessil lighting may be in order. A 160 on each side of the glass brace angled in a tube but to hit the center of the tank.

Normally only the plastic between those 2 piece of glass serves as a brace. I would guess the original owner added those glass. If there is no damage or cut on those plastic on top of the tank and the brace you can remove those glass.
