with FW tanks, nobody here in hawaii uses a heater. however, since i am diving into SW, i would like to know if any of the members that live in tropical climates use a heater? also, do any of you that live in tropical environments ever have a problem with the water being to hot and, if so, how do you maintain the correct temperature?

btw, the temperature in hawaii is almost always in the 80's during the day year round. at night the temp will drop into the 70's. in only isolated instances do we get below these temps.

Anything between 76-84 is acceptable, but stability is the key. If it fluctuates more than 2F daily you will need a heater to compensate.
