Target feeding

How do you guys go about target feeding starfish? I speared a piece of shrimp on a length of airline tubing and layed it next to my red knobbed starfish. Within 30 mins. it split to the back of the tank and ran halfway up the glass. What should I be doing instead? TIA Jamie

well i use to try and feed it by hand which worked but i would have to wait for him to come up to the top. i just started putting the food on a clip like one that use for the tangs seaweed. my star just came and pulled it of when he wanted and it was much easier
