Hello, i have a tempereture problem :(

I have 1/4 HP Via Aqua Chiller, in/out hoses are about 4ft long each,
Rio 17HF pumping it, another pump ( Rio 1100 ) is in the tank itself
My temperature is always 83-86 degrees....
Any suggestions?

Thanks

I don't have a chiller, but understand the basic principles. Is there any way to increase the time that the water spends in the chiller? more tubing inside, slower flow? Or if the chiller is getting older it may be time for a recharge of freon if it isn't getting as cold as it used to.

I have the same chiller, thanks to eBay, and I have found that a slower rate of flow really helps it work more efficiently.

how large is your tank, and what pump do you use?
I have 55 gals, and just replaced (about 20 min ago) my pump with much less powerfull (Rio 1700).
Let's see what i'll get.... :)

I have a 60 gallon with 20 gal fuge. I actually let the syphon from the tank go directly into the chiller and a Filstar XP2 canistr grabs it on the way out to pass the water through carbon only before going into the fuge. I know it sounds odd, but my tank is not reef ready and I pull water out of an internal sump. Very complicated, but it works well.
