Night time temp goes down, Not advisable to turn off heater. It is auto and will turn off anyway when temp is satisfied or higher.

I unplug my heater in summer time. The heat of the pumps keeps the temp stable and it drops maybe 1 degree at night. Im not sure of your tank situation though so this may not work for you.
