Testing Water Hardness

I keep getting a high reading on my water hardness, what can I do to bring it down?

Just a few questions to make our guessing easier!

What is high? What salt are you using? What SG is your tank at? What is your calcuim at? What is your PH at? How long has your tank been running for? What's in it?

Replace tank water with demineralized, de-ionized, distilled, or RO water. There are several things to add to increase hardness, but I don't think there are any reef safe water softeners.
On a side note, why do you want your water softer? Usually, the harder the salt water, the better.

I wasnt sure what the hardness test was for and if having a lot of hardness was a good thing. Thanks for your help.
