I have a airstone in my tank right now and was wondering do I need it and should I even have it in there? I thought it would mix more oxygen into the water but maybe im wrong. What say you all?

Surface agitation is the best method of gas exchange. The airstone will do little good in that regard.

yeah but you need to keep that surface churning. what kinda PowerHeads do you have in your tank? what kinda filtration? how big is your tank?

60 gallon
1 Rio 800
1 Maxi Jet 1200
1 Bak Pak protein skimmer
1 Eheim canaster filter
2 Fans blowing across top of water and lights

At least one more Maxi1200 or a nice arrangement of 600's or 900's might help--People on this sight love water movement. Also make sure to direct the flows at each other for turbulence or get a wave maker
