too much water current in a reef?

hi all , i'm just wondering if it was possible to have too much current in a tank... i was looking at some pics of tanks under the members pictures and see they have pumps submersed in the tank and it looks like a great idea... but don't want to over do it like i have a habit of doing lol... TIA

Unless you have a PH blowing directly onto a coral then IMO you cant have to much flow. The water turn over rate in a natual reef is such that its almost impossible to recreate this in our tanks. I have close to 15X turnover in one of my tanks and really could utilize some 'spot' flow enhcancments in some places.

I agree...you can't have to much flow...but you can have too much velocity. The idea is to create turbulence, not velocity.
