Total carbonate hardness test kit??

I have a "Hagen Carbonate Total Hardness" test kit. The kH number I read should be between 10-14, I'm told. I currently read about 14. How does this number relate to alkalinity?

The test kit chart shows alkalinity for FW and kH for SW. Am I reading and using this kit correctly? Should I use another kit for SW alkalinity? TIA.

Kh, Carbonate hardness, alkalinity...these are all the same thing. They can be expressed in degrees, ppm, mg/l or meq/l.

If it's measuring in degrees, and it sounds like it is, you can take 14 and multiply by 17.9 to get a reading in mg/l or ppm (those two are interchangable...400ppm is 400mg/l).
