Hi Everyone,
I am finally taking the plunge into Marine setups. I have experience in Tropical freshwater setups, but confused whether or not to have a trickle filter setup as well as a sump tank / refugium for my marine tank. I have heard both good and bad benefits from using trickle filters in marine setups.
Currently at the moment I am setting up my 200 litre (50 Gallon??) tank, I have started cycling the tank with live rock and coral sand only, which all has been in for 4 weeks. I am using a clean canister filter which I may / may not use once the tank is established.
My patience has been pretty good so far, have resisted the urge to buy fish etc etc. I just want to get this right from the start before buying fish, etc etc and having the whole thing go pear shaped, learned long ago the hard way with tropical not to rush.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hopefully the quick diagram attached works.
Thanks
