tufa rock

I have 5 pieces of tufa rock that i bought from petsmart mixed in with 45lbs lr. will the tufa eventually become live? will it start to look more like my real lr? it is so white right now and i don't like the way it looks. i would like to add more lr in the next month. should i take the tufa out? bury it under the other rock so i can't see it? any suggestions?

If you have the approprate calcium, alkalinity and lighting then yes, eventually the rock will turn into live rock. It will take a few months for this to happen, so if you're in a hurry, you might be better off using this as a foundation for your live rock.
