two spot goby mating

I just got a small two spot goby for my tank and i read online that they normally do better as a pair. How can i tell if i have a female or male? I'd like to get a second but don't know how to tell. Do i need to buy this fish as a mated pair to have success?

Mated pair living in close quarters and swimming together at the lfs is the only way to buy two.

Cute fish and I love the sand sifting/cleaning, but they don't live long in my experience. Best of luck to you on them.

awe thats too bad I already lost the little guy once in the sump...it seems he likes to float around aimlessly near the top of the tank...right by the overflow! Got it blocked off by sponges now
