Picked up my wood yesterday for the stand. Had to by a sheet and have it cut down to size. Wow hardwood sure is expensive.
This being Father's Day weekend I won't be able to work on the stand until next weekend. Can't wait to get it repaired and repainted. Then on to the sump build.

Hardwood is high. Heck, regular lumber can add up with the quickness. Glad to see this progressing though.

Thank you Paul. I am looking forward getting the stand completed and planning the sump build.

Just some details of what I have done so far:
I removed the bottom piece of wood as well as the supporting pieces. Bought a sheet of 3/4 inch Birch wood had them cut two pieces to fit the size of the bottom of the cabinet.

Screwed the first piece down then the second one and nailed the trim on. Sanded and painted the outside of the stand.

The new wood will replace the bad piece of wood that i removed plus it will add 1 1/2 inches to the height of the stand overall.

Still to do:
Paint the inside of the stand and put two coats of polyurethane. Then it's done.

I gave a question about my sump build. My plan is to connect two 20 gallon long aquariums (end to end) to use as my sump. My question is how big of a whole should I drill so the water can flow from one tank to the other tank? And do I need more than one whole?

Thank you redsea. I will finish painting it this weekend. I will upload pics after it's done.
