upside down long nose butterfly

Is it normal for fish to sleep upside down? I walked into the longeroon the other night, turned the light on and my butterfly was upside down at the top of the tank behind the lift pipe. I thought he was dead until he put up his fins, gave me a dirty look and shot around the tank.
Most unusual i thought...

Not really unusual at all. My regal sleeps right beside the PH in the top corner of the tank. Nearing lights out, it scoots up there. Tail straight up and nose down.
