Used Protein Skimmer Question

Hi all, I have a used (3 months ) Red Sea Prism HOB Protein Skimmer arriving in the next few days. I dont know the history of the tank it was used on. What,if anything, should I do before running it on my tank? Just want to make sure I'm not going to contaminate anything. Thanks!

Scrub with vinnigar, then a salt scrub. That should clean it well and kill most nasties. If you want to be double-sure, you could "QT" it in storage for a month.

I dont know about this...I do know the owner only used it for a short time and it was on a reef tank, so I would assume no copper was used, but cant be certain.
