I was wondering if anyone has used quikrete playsand at all.. It is the only thing availible in my area and I picked up a bag and placed it in my refugium.. The refugium is not hooked up yet but is filled up with SW and a 4" DSB.. What would be the negatives about using this sand in a refugium if any.. It have a very healthy tank and do not want it to suffer due to using this sand... It seems to be very fine and doesnt seem to be sharp... Please Advise as to the positives and negatives about using this playsand..

TIA,
James

The same as using it in a tank. If it is not 100% silica, it likely contains feldspar and will leach silicates and fuel algae growth.

I asked about using Quickrete a week or so ago and it was recommended to not use it. :(

Most of the playsands I have seen don't really list what it is made of either.
